Climb limestone cliffs above the water instead of watching from a boat below.

A half-day rock climbing activity at Moody Beach in Lan Ha Bay, Vietnam, where you climb up to 22 meters above the ocean with trained Western and Vietnamese guides and all gear provided. No previous climbing experience is required. The full-day option adds morning kayaking or stand-up paddleboarding through floating villages and a limestone lagoon, with lunch included before the afternoon climb.

The Experience

The day starts with a cruise through Lan Ha Bay that drops you directly on Moody Beach, where your guides set up the climbing routes. You'll work with ropes and harnesses to climb up to 22 meters above the ocean water—high enough to feel the exposure, low enough that the guides control your descent. The limestone here is what makes the climb possible: it's textured, grippy, and the kind of rock that rewards technique over pure strength. Guides stay with you throughout, and you're lowered safely back to earth once you've reached the top.

If you book the full-day version, the morning is spent paddling by kayak or stand-up paddleboard through Lan Ha Bay's floating villages and a labyrinth of karsts, finishing at a large lagoon. Lunch gives you time to rest before the afternoon climbing session. The half-day trip is climbing only, with lunch included either way.

Climbing gear—ropes, harnesses, and safety equipment—is provided and set up by the guides. You don't need to have climbed before; the guides work with complete beginners as readily as with experienced climbers. Children from age 7 are welcome. The activity runs about 5 hours for the half-day option, and public transportation is available nearby if you're arranging your own way to the beach.

What’s included

Is this one for you?Book this if your group wants to climb instead of watch—the guides set up the routes and manage the ropes, so you focus on the vertical challenge and the view from 22 meters up, not on logistics or anchors. Full-day works best for groups that want morning water time before the afternoon climb; half-day suits climbers who came for the rock alone.
