The tour picks you up from your Hanoi hotel between 6:00 and 6:30 in the morning, then drives northeast toward Cao Bang Province. You'll reach Ban Gioc Waterfall around midday: the largest and widest waterfall in Asia, where the border between Vietnam and China runs through the middle. The three tiers crash down 30 meters into a pool below, and the waterfall stretches nearly 300 feet wide. After lunch at a local restaurant, you have time to walk the grounds and take in the scale of it. If you want to get closer, a boat ride near the base is available for an extra fee.
From the waterfall, the tour continues to Nguom Ngao Cave, also called Tiger Cave, before checking into your hotel near Ban Gioc in the late afternoon. Dinner is at the hotel or a nearby restaurant. On day two, you start with breakfast and a visit to Ban Gioc Pagoda, which sits on higher ground and gives you a view of the waterfall from above. Then the tour heads to Angle's Eye Mountain, a limestone formation with a natural hole running through it in Quang Uyen District.
