The experience
The cruise leaves Hanoi Old Quarter between 8:00 AM and 8:30 AM by shuttle bus, taking roughly three hours to reach Halong International Cruise Port. Once aboard Signature Cruise, you transfer by tender boat and receive a welcome briefing before heading into Bai Tu Long Bay. Lunch arrives while the limestone landscape unfolds around you: the water narrows between vertical rock faces as the ship moves deeper into the bay.
The first afternoon centers on Vung Vieng Floating Fishing Village. You kayak or row a bamboo boat through the village to see how locals live on the water: fish farms, wooden houses, nets and traps. Back on deck, the sunset party begins with a cooking class where you learn to prepare a dish before dinner. The evening offers squid fishing from the rail, movies, games, or a massage in the cabin. You sleep overnight in a junior cabin with a sea-view window and en-suite bathroom, with two bottles of mineral water waiting in the room.
Day two starts on the sundeck with tai chi while the bay stays quiet around you. After a light breakfast, the ship heads to Thien Canh Son Cave. The cave entrance sits roughly 200 steps up a climb, and inside, stalactites and stalagmites rise from the floor. The view back out over Bai Tu Long Bay frames the whole climb. You return to the ship for a brunch buffet while cruising back to Halong International Cruise Port, then disembark by tender. If you booked the Hanoi transfer, the shuttle returns you to Hanoi Old Quarter by 3:00 PM to 3:30 PM.
Is this one for you?Book with the Hanoi transfer if you want the bus pickup and return included. Book from Halong port if you're arranging your own way there and prefer to skip the three-hour shuttle ride. Either way, the overnight cabin and all meals stay the same, so the choice is just about transport logistics.

What's the difference between booking the cruise from Hanoi versus from Halong port?
Booking from Hanoi includes pickup and return transfer by shuttle bus from Hanoi Old Quarter, with the bus departing between 8:00 AM and 8:30 AM and returning between 3:00 PM and 3:30 PM. Booking from Halong means you arrive at Halong International Cruise Port on your own before noon for boarding, and the cruise ends at the port without a return transfer included.
Can I kayak if I've never done it before?
Yes. The kayaking and bamboo boat rowing happen at Vung Vieng Floating Fishing Village and are suitable for all physical fitness levels. The guide is English-speaking and will be with the group throughout the activity.
What happens at Thien Canh Son Cave?
Thien Canh Son Cave is a natural cave with stalactites and stalagmites. You climb approximately 200 steps to enter and explore the cave, then look out over Bai Tu Long Bay from inside before returning to the ship.
What meals are included on the cruise?
Lunch on day one, dinner on day one after the cooking class, breakfast on day two, and a brunch buffet on day two while returning to port are all included. The cooking class on day one teaches you to prepare one of the dinner dishes.
Is there time to relax on the ship, or is the schedule packed?
The schedule includes relaxation time on deck and in your cabin. After kayaking and the cooking class on day one, the evening offers optional activities like squid fishing, movies, games, or massage, so you can choose how to spend your time. Day two morning starts with tai chi but leaves the rest of the morning open before the cave visit.
