The Experience

The day starts with a 30-minute drive from your Seattle lodging across Lake Washington to Woodinville Wine Country. Your guide leads the conversation about what you want from the tastings—the varietals, the styles, the vibe—and uses that to shape which wineries you'll visit. The first stop is a flagship winery where you'll taste 4 to 6 wines and possibly some bubbly; tasting fees run around $40 per person unless you buy a bottle. From there, the route moves to smaller, family-owned operations where the guide talks through the winemaker's story and the vineyard's history as you drive between stops.

The second stop is a boutique winery with a tasting room where you can buy lunch to eat while you taste—budget roughly $20 to $30 for food and $20 to $25 for the tasting fee, though purchasing wine can waive part or all of the tasting charge. Two more boutique wineries follow in the afternoon, each small and independently run, with similar tasting fees ($20 to $30 per person). Your guide continues to talk you through each location, the wines, and what makes each one distinct. By around 4:30 p.m., you're back at your starting point in Seattle.

The vehicle is air-conditioned and the group stays small enough that the guide can actually listen to what you prefer. Be aware that getting in and out of the coach involves steep steps, as do some of the winery entrances themselves. Service animals are welcome.
