The Experience
The tour starts and ends in McMinnville, the historic town at the heart of the valley. From there, you'll move through vineyards and between wineries—the route depends on what you want to taste and how much time you want to spend at each stop. Willamette Valley was recently named one of the top 100 places to visit in the world by Time Magazine, and the landscape itself is part of the experience: rolling hills, biodynamically farmed sites, and views from tasting room decks that frame the Dundee Hills AVA.
The wineries on the route change based on your preferences, but they're chosen for what makes them worth the drive. Elevee is a boutique operation in the Dundee Hills where you'll meet the owners and winemakers in their garden tasting area. Winderlea has some of the best views in the valley from its glass-enclosed tasting room and back deck. Granville Wine Company is a small husband-and-wife operation specializing in Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, run from atop the Dundee Hills with views across Holstein Vineyard. One stop might be a fourth-generation French winemaker recently named Oregon Winemaker of the Year by the International Wine Report. The cult sandwich shop in the valley—with pizzas, salads, pastries and a market—often breaks up the tastings. You'll also pass through Dundee itself, a town of 2,500 that gave its name to the Dundee Hills AVA, recognized worldwide for Pinot Noir.
Tasting fees at all wineries are included in the tour cost, and you'll get a bottle of water for the ride. The whole experience runs 6 to 9 hours depending on your pace and how many stops you choose. Because the driver is centered in the valley and knows the winemakers and owners personally, you're not just getting transportation—you're getting access to experiences that are hard to find on your own.

What's the difference between visiting 3 wineries versus 4 on this tour?
The number of stops depends on your preference for pace. Three wineries allows more time at each location for a slower, deeper tasting experience; four stops fits more wineries into the same afternoon if you want to cover more ground.
Are the tasting fees really included, or do I pay at each winery?
Tasting fees are included in the tour price. You pay nothing at the wineries themselves unless you choose to buy a bottle, which waives any remaining tasting fee at that location.
Can I bring my kids on this tour?
Children are welcome to ride along on the tour. They can't participate in wine tastings—the minimum age for that is 21—but they can enjoy the scenery and visit the wineries with you.
What makes Dundee Hills AVA special for Pinot Noir?
Dundee Hills is recognized around the world as one of the best Pinot Noir designations in existence. The hills' elevation, soil, and climate create conditions that produce world-class Pinot Noir, which is why so many of the wineries on this tour focus on it.
Will we stop for food during the tour?
The itinerary often includes a stop at a local sandwich shop and market in the valley, where you can grab lunch, pizza, salads, pastries and browse gift items. This is a good break between tastings, though meals are an additional expense beyond the tour price.
Do I need to arrange my own transportation to the starting point?
Round-trip transportation is included in the tour price. Pickup happens at your location in the McMinnville area, and the driver returns you there at the end of the day.
