Step-by-step itinerary
Upper Toquerville Falls Jeep Tour
- Drive off-road through desert trails
- Pass sandy washes and rocky ledges
- Stop for photo opportunities
- Arrive at double-tiered waterfall
- Swim or lounge by natural pools
The experience
A double-tiered, spring-fed waterfall sits at the end of a route built around the drive itself. You'll spend the first part of the tour winding through remote backcountry (sandy washes, rocky ledges, wide-open desert) in an air-conditioned Jeep with a guide who knows where the water pools deep enough to swim. The vehicle does the work. You watch the landscape change and stop for photos when the view warrants it.
The payoff is time in the water. Upper Toquerville Falls drops in two tiers, and the natural pools below hold enough depth to actually cool off rather than wade. You can swim or lounge by the falls depending on what appeals after the drive. Bottled water comes with the tour, and the whole outing runs 2.5 to 3 hours from start to finish.
Two upgrades exist if you want to extend the day. The Toquerville Falls Loop adds extra ledges along the route and eliminates the backtracking on the return drive. Rattlesnake Gulch is a different beast entirely: a high-stakes crawl through technical terrain built for drivers comfortable with serious off-road conditions, not a sightseeing variant. Children from age 5 can join the standard tour. The guide speaks English throughout.

Is this one for you?The tour picks you up and handles the off-road driving, so you don't need your own vehicle or four-wheel-drive experience to reach the waterfall. If you're staying in St George without a car, this is how you get to one of Southern Utah's backcountry water holes and back.
