Three wineries, three tastings, one afternoon in the Tryon Foothills

A 6-hour guided winery tour in Polk County takes you to three family-owned wineries (Mountain Brook, Overmountain, and Parker-Binns) with tastings at each stop, a charcuterie board, and transportation included. You'll learn the history of each winery and sample their distinctive wines, from French-style varietals to estate-grown blends, in settings that range from a 75-acre estate to a laid-back foothills vineyard.

Step-by-step itinerary

Visit three wineries with tastings

  • Travel to Mountain Brook Vineyards
  • Enjoy tasting and explore vineyard
  • Travel to Overmountain Winery
  • Sample French-style estate wines
  • Travel to Parker-Binns Vineyard
  • Relax with wine flight and local scenery

The experience

Six hours covers three wineries without rushing. Transportation picks you up from your location (within 45 miles of Polk County) and handles the drive between stops, so you taste without worrying about the road. Mountain Brook sits across 75 acres of grapevines and forest in the Tryon Foothills, with an outdoor tasting room and a Barrel Room for deeper tastings. Overmountain is a smaller, family-run operation where winemakers Frank Lilly and his daughter Sofia craft French-style wines (Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot, and Petit Manseng) from estate-grown fruit. Parker-Binns, a 40-acre vineyard in Mill Spring, pairs tastings with a relaxed atmosphere and live music on the lawn.

Your ticket includes a wine glass, bottled water, and a charcuterie board to eat across the day. Tastings at each winery are part of the package. The default includes a sample on the bus, though you can upgrade to the all-inclusive option for more pours at each stop. The guide is an experienced local who shares the story behind each winery and its wines. This is a 21+ experience only.

Is this one for you?Six hours is long enough to linger at each winery without feeling rushed, but short enough to leave your evening free. If you want a full day of wine education and vineyard time, this fits. If you need to fit other activities into your day, the length may not leave room.

Parker-Binns has ReLish Kitchen on-site where you can order additional food and wine, though these are not included in your ticket and cost extra.
