The experience
Murrells Inlet's fishing grounds sit about an hour offshore, and the ride out is built into the day: time to settle in and watch the inlet pass. You arrive at Crazy Sister Marina 30 minutes before departure, check in at the ticket office upstairs, and the crew walks you through the equipment: how the rod and reel work, what a bite feels like, the basic moves to land a fish. No one expects you to know any of this already. Once the boat heads out, the crew stays close. They bait your hook, help you drop the line, and stand ready when you get a strike.
The fishing itself is the point. You're after seasonal bottom fish, typically sea bass and ringtail, and the crew knows where they are and how to help you catch them. Kids do the reeling. The crew does the teaching. The boat has restrooms and a snack bar, and a deck where you can stand and watch the water between bites. After you've fished, the crew offers fish cleaning and filleting services for a tip if you want to take your catch home.
