The experience
The boat carries no more than six people, which means you're not competing for space or the guide's attention. You'll spend four hours exploring Kona's coral reefs and cruising into deeper water where larger marine life moves through. The itinerary is built around what you might encounter (dolphins, sharks, manta rays, sea turtles, tropical fish), but sightings depend on where the animals are that day, so each trip is different. A live English-speaking guide leads the adventure and helps position the boat for the best viewing and snorkeling opportunities.
You have a choice about how to participate. If you have snorkeling experience, you can enter the water with your own mask and fins (provided) to swim among the reef species and watch for larger animals passing through. If you prefer to stay dry or don't have snorkeling skills, you can remain aboard and watch the action from the boat. The guide will still narrate what's happening and position the vessel so you see as much as possible. Light snacks come with the trip. You're welcome to bring additional food and drinks.
Bring a towel, reef-safe sunscreen, and a reusable water bottle. If you need a prescription snorkel mask, bring your own or arrange a rental beforehand, as the boat doesn't stock them. Infants must sit on an adult's lap. You'll need at least a moderate level of fitness to handle four hours on the water and the physical demands of snorkeling if you choose to enter.

Top questions
What happens if it rains?
It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.
What kind of marine life might I see on this snorkeling trip in Kona?
The reefs and open water around Kona are home to dolphins, sharks, manta rays, sea turtles, and a wide variety of tropical fish. The guide will position the boat to maximize your chances of encounters, but sightings are never guaranteed since these are wild animals in their natural habitat.
Do I have to snorkel in the water, or can I stay on the boat?
You can choose. If you have snorkeling experience, you can enter the water with the provided equipment. If you prefer not to snorkel or don't have the skills, you can stay aboard and observe the marine life and reefs from the boat while the guide narrates.
What's included in the four-hour snorkeling trip?
Snorkeling equipment (mask, fins, and snorkel) and light snacks are included. You'll need to bring your own towel, reef-safe sunscreen, and reusable water bottle. If you require a prescription snorkel mask, bring your own or arrange a rental in advance.
What level of fitness do I need for this activity?
You should have at least a moderate level of physical fitness to handle four hours on the water. If you plan to snorkel, you'll also need the stamina for swimming and the physical demands of being in the ocean with equipment.
How many people go on each snorkeling trip?
A maximum of six guests per trip keeps the group small and personalized. This means less crowding on the boat and more individual attention from the guide.
