The experience

The guide starts with a safety briefing and snorkeling lesson on shore, walking through the basics so you're ready before you enter the water. This is not a passive tour where you watch from a boat. You operate the equipment and move through the reef yourself, following your guide to the spots where the turtles and fish are. The guide shares knowledge of the marine life as you go and watches the group throughout, so you stay safe while exploring.

Two hours in the water covers the reef at a pace that lets you actually see what's there instead of rushing through. Small groups mean the guide can adjust to your comfort level and answer questions as you swim. Water and a snack are provided, and all snorkeling equipment comes with the booking.

The guides speak English, Spanish, Russian, Korean and two additional languages, so you can book in the language you're most comfortable with. Children from age three can join, though the operator notes the activity is not recommended for travelers with poor cardiovascular health.
