The experience
The float starts 10 miles west of Jackson Hole in Wilson, where you meet the guide 15 minutes before departure and get transported to the launch point. Once on the water, you spend the next three and a half hours drifting 13 miles downriver with the Teton Range in view the whole time. The guide talks through the natural history and geography of the mountains and the river itself, pointing out wildlife as it appears: bald eagles, Rocky Mountain elk, moose, mule deer, otters, beavers and others have all been spotted on these trips. The pace is slow enough that you're not fighting the current. The river does the work.
You'll wear a lifejacket for the entire float and have water available throughout. The trip runs at either 8:15 AM or 12:15 PM, so you can pick the departure that fits the rest of your day in Jackson Hole. No previous paddling or rafting experience is needed. The float is suitable for all fitness levels, and families with children as young as 4 can book.
