The Experience

The lights are already down when you slip into your seat at the theater. Around you, the audience is settling in (phones away, programs in hand), and then the opening notes hit and the stage floods with color. SIX doesn't waste time. The wives of Henry VIII walk out and take the microphone, and for the next two hours, they're not historical footnotes anymore. They're pop stars reclaiming their own story, and the energy in the room is immediate and electric. This is the musical that won the 2022 Tony Award for Best Original Score, and the cast album debuted at Number 1 on the Billboard charts. Those numbers matter because they mean the show has staying power, not just hype.

What makes SIX different from other Broadway shows is the premise itself. Instead of watching these women through a man's lens, you hear directly from each of them (Catherine of Aragon, Anne Boleyn, Jane Seymour, Anne of Cleves, Catherine Howard, and Catherine Parr) each one getting a song that's part history, part modern pop anthem. The production design is sharp and minimal, which keeps the focus on the performances and the music. The show runs about two hours with no intermission, so you're in and out of the theater by evening. Your tickets come with assigned seating chosen by the theater at the time of purchase, and they're delivered no later than two weeks before the performance, so you'll know exactly where you're sitting well in advance.

The theater itself is in the heart of Broadway, and public transportation options are nearby if you're coming from elsewhere in New York City. All taxes, fees, and handling charges are included in your ticket price, so there are no surprises at checkout. The show is recommended for ages 10 and up, children under 5 aren't permitted, and it's wheelchair accessible if you need that accommodation. If you have specific seating requirements for accessibility, you'll want to call customer service at 888-651-9785 before you complete your booking to check what's available.
