  • Cross Lake Washington floating bridge
  • View Snoqualmie Falls

The Experience

The tour runs six hours and covers a lot of ground — two wine tastings, a waterfall, chocolate samples, and a scenic route across Lake Washington that passes Bill Gates's neighborhood and floating homes. You start with Chateau Ste. Michelle Winery in Woodinville, the first winery established in Washington state, where the tasting happens on grounds big enough that the Cascade Mountains frame the experience. A second winery follows, both tastings included in the price. The guide leads the wine education piece, so you're learning what you're tasting instead of just drinking it.

From Woodinville, the route heads east through the rolling foothills toward Snoqualmie Falls, the largest waterfall in Washington. The drive itself crosses Lake Washington on one of the longest floating bridges in the world — a detail most visitors never think about until they're on it. On the way back toward Seattle, you stop in Issaquah at a chocolate and candy factory where you can watch production and take home samples.

Because this is a private tour, the timing stays flexible and the group is just you and whoever you bring. Pickup happens at a location you choose in the greater Seattle area, and the driver arrives in a fully insured commercial bus. The guide speaks English or Spanish, and children from infants up are welcome — strollers work fine on the route.

Top questions

What exactly happens at the two wineries on this tour?

You taste wine at two of Woodinville's award-winning wineries, including Chateau Ste. Michelle, and the guide walks you through tasting 101 so you understand what you're sampling. Both tastings are included in the tour price.

Is Snoqualmie Falls just a quick photo stop or do you spend real time there?

Snoqualmie Falls is a full stop on the itinerary where you see the largest waterfall in Washington state. The tour builds time for it, not a drive-by.

Do I need to arrange my own way to the starting point?

No — the guide picks you up at a location of your choice in the greater Seattle area, so you don't arrange separate transport to begin the tour.

Can I bring young children or infants on this tour?

Yes, children are welcome from age one. Infants and small children can ride in a pram or stroller, and the tour is suitable for all physical fitness levels.

What is the floating bridge on Lake Washington?

Lake Washington has one of the world's longest floating bridges, and the tour crosses it on the way back to Seattle. The drive also passes through the Bill Gates neighborhood and lets you see floating homes on the water.

Is alcohol served on the tour, and what if I don't drink?

Wine is served at the two wineries during tastings, but only to guests 21 and older. The tour also includes chocolate sampling in Issaquah, so there's food tasting throughout the day.
