Salmon mousse on rye, pasta that changes every two weeks, smoked scallops, and views of Elliott Bay framed by Mt. Rainier

This walking tour through Seattle's Downtown takes you to three restaurants and Pike Place Market for eight seafood tastings that leave you satisfied, not stuffed. You'll taste salmon, crab, shrimp, scallops, chowder and sushi while learning how water shaped the city's identity and culture. The tour covers about half a mile on foot; most of the time you're seated at a table. A live English-speaking guide leads the group and handles the route.

Step-by-step itinerary

Seattle seafood tasting and market tour

  • Enjoy salmon mousse toast at Freya bakery
  • Pass through Pike Place Market and learn history
  • Eat fresh seafood pasta, Italian and Northwest style
  • Sample dishes at Matt's fine dining restaurant
  • Taste smoked salmon and scallops at fish market
  • View Seattle Waterfront and surrounding mountains
  • Finish with chocolate truffles for dessert

The Experience

The tour opens at a Danish bakery with a salmon mousse toast on fresh seeded rye, then moves into Pike Place Market—the city's iconic fish market where you'll learn what makes it unique. From there you walk to a second restaurant for a substantial portion of daily fresh seafood pasta, authentically Italian and Northwest-inspired; the menu changes every two weeks, so the dish you get depends on what the boats brought in. The third stop is Matt's, a fine dining restaurant on the 3rd floor of the Corner Market Building, where you taste a variety of dishes and get the most iconic view of Elliott Bay that any restaurant in the city offers.

After Matt's, you return to the market itself to taste smoked salmon and fresh scallops from one of Seattle's oldest fish markets. The tour finishes with chocolate truffles for dessert. The whole experience runs about two and a half hours, with the majority of that time spent sitting down eating rather than walking. All eight tastings, plus bonus surprises along the way, are included in the price, along with all fees and taxes.

The guide speaks English and will tell you about the city's history and culture, specifically how its waterways shaped Seattle's identity and the role water plays in the Pacific Northwest. If you have dietary restrictions or mobility concerns, let the operator know ahead of time. The tour is wheelchair accessible, and all areas and surfaces are accessible; strollers and service animals are welcome.
