The experience
The tour starts in Old Town Scottsdale and moves on foot through the neighborhood, stopping at four restaurants where no two tacos are the same. At the first stop (the oldest restaurant in Old Town, family-owned and operated) you'll sample a variety of tacos and a margarita. The second stop is Cien Agaves Tacos & Tequila, a casual, upbeat spot in the heart of Old Town where locals gather. Another taco and margarita follow. At Loco Patron, you get a taco, margarita, and the creamy elote corn dip. The tour wraps with a sweet dessert from Skoop.
Between tastings, the route takes you past a famous landmark and through the Old Town neighborhoods, including a country western saloon and bar. A local guide leads the whole walk, which runs about three hours total. The pace is built around eating and drinking, not rushing. You'll have time at each stop to settle in and enjoy the food. All three margaritas, the chips and salsa, elote, and dessert are included. You pay only for anything extra you order.
Vegetarian and gluten-free options are available if you let the operator know when you book. The tour runs in all weather, so dress for the season. You must be at least 21 to drink alcohol, though children 13 and older can join (they'd skip the margaritas). The minimum age for anyone on the tour is 11, but kids under 13 won't be served alcohol.
