The Experience

Salt in the air, a bit of wind tugging at my hat—right away, you know this isn’t some cookie-cutter group tour. Our guide, Manu, grinned as he handed out reef-friendly sunscreen (smelled faintly of coconut). We set off with just our crew, no strangers tagging along. The road twisted past a fruit stand where a woman waved and called out something about fresh guava. Felt like we were getting a peek behind the curtain.

The blow hole wasn’t crowded at all—just us and the sound of water thumping through rock. I got close enough to feel the spray on my shins. Manu explained how locals used to bring kids here after school to cool off. There’s a tiny food cart nearby selling shaved ice if you’re lucky; we grabbed one and watched the waves crash. The whole thing felt easy, unhurried—like we could linger or move on whenever we wanted.
