The experience
The boat, a green sailboat named HIGH TIDE, departs from the floating dock in front of Schooner Wharf Bar at 202 William Street. You can board 15 minutes early and settle in while the captain and mate prepare for the sail. The 90-minute charter takes you out onto the water around the Florida Keys, where the city recedes and you get the view most visitors miss. Dolphins sometimes appear off the bow, though there's no guarantee. The whole thing is yours alone: no other groups, no schedule to sync with strangers, just your party and the crew.
You decide how hands-on to be. Ask the captain and you can take a turn at the wheel and actually sail the boat, no experience needed. Or sit back with a drink, watch the water, and let the crew handle everything. Soft drinks and water are on board. There's ample ice and cooler space if you bring your own food or beverages (alcohol is allowed for adults 21 and over). The pace is entirely yours: if you want to add time or stop for a swim, call ahead and the captain will work it out.
Finding the boat is straightforward. Walk down the dock in front of Schooner Wharf Bar and look for the sign marking the first floating dock. Walk that dock and you'll see HIGH TIDE. The captain and mate will be there to greet you.
