Pontoon Boat Rental: Crab Island Choctawhatchee Bay
Four or eight hours piloting your own pontoon on Choctawhatchee Bay
Rent a 12-passenger pontoon boat on Choctawhatchee Bay for a half-day or full-day outing near Crab Island, with Bluetooth speaker, Bimini top and life vests included. You operate the boat yourself after a briefing and safety video. Drivers born on or after January 1, 1988 complete a boater's safety test at check-in. The riding area is Choctawhatchee Bay only: boats do not enter the Gulf of Mexico.
The experience
You pick the boat up at the blue building by the boat ramp after checking in with a valid government ID and credit card. The briefing and waiver take place on-site, and if you were born after January 1, 1988, plan to arrive an hour early for the boater's safety test. Once that's done, your rental time begins at the hour you booked, so the timing matters. The boat holds up to 12 people (infants and toddlers count toward the limit), and comes equipped with a Bluetooth speaker, a Bimini top for shade, and life vests for everyone aboard.
You're the captain for the day. The boat operates in Choctawhatchee Bay, a protected riding area that keeps you close to Crab Island without venturing into the Gulf. You can bring your own food and drinks (no glass, no grills), and the boat is wheelchair accessible. If you'd rather have someone else handle the controls, you can add a captain to your rental by calling ahead.
A damage deposit is required at check-in: either a non-refundable $49 fee or a $200 hold on your credit card that releases when you return the boat undamaged. The hold covers up to $500 in damage. Choose the 4-hour rental for a shorter outing or the full 8-hour day if you want the whole afternoon on the water.
