The experience
Meet your guide at 7 PM at the Pensacola History & Hauntings Tours & Events office on East Government Street, where you'll get an introduction to the city's 450 years of darker history before stepping into the streets. The tour moves through downtown on foot, stopping at specific landmarks connected to the stories: Seville Quarter, dating to 1871 and once surrounded by saloons and gambling dens; the Saenger Theatre, opened in 1925 and built partly with salvaged bricks from a theater destroyed by hurricane; and the old City Hall, built in 1907 near where accused pirates from the schooner Carmen were held in 1822. Your guide weaves together documented history, true crime cases, local folklore, and accounts of paranormal activity reported at each location.
The stories span Pensacola's pirate and privateer past, the notorious red light district called "The Line," infamous crimes and mysterious deaths, condemned prisoners, devastating fires, and deadly epidemics. At Seville Quarter, you'll hear about Wesley Gibbs, the most famous ghost associated with the property, and reports of shadow figures, unexplained voices, and moving objects. The Saenger Theatre carries its own dark history: a worker killed in a boiler room explosion, a mysterious girl seen on stage, unexplained footsteps and laughter. As you move through the historic downtown streets, your guide reveals additional locations and stories connected to murder, notorious criminals, and reported paranormal activity, with surprises saved for the experience itself.
You'll use ghost hunting equipment during the tour and receive samples from local stores. The walk takes two hours and covers downtown streets on foot. All areas and surfaces are wheelchair accessible, and public transportation options are nearby. Infants and small children can ride in a pram or stroller, and service animals are allowed. A live guide leads the tour in English.
