The Experience

You show up at the Lighthouse Marina Boat House, walk down the left dock, and the captain and crew are already waiting at the picnic table. No fuss, no paperwork — just a handshake and then you're stepping onto a 32-foot fiberglass pontoon that feels solid under your feet, way more stable than you'd expect for a boat this size. The pontoon holds up to 18 people, so it's never crowded, and the seating wraps around with unobstructed views of the water. The captain is Coast Guard licensed, which means you're not guessing whether this person knows what they're doing — they do.

The cruise itself is 1.5 hours, and it moves through St. Andrews Bay and into the Gulf of Mexico, past Shell Island and along the shoreline where deer sometimes stand in the shallows. The real draw, though, is the dolphins. They're not guaranteed — nothing in nature is — but the captain and crew know where to look, and they're scanning the water the whole time. You'll feel the pontoon slow down when they spot something, and then everyone's leaning over the rail trying to catch a glimpse of a fin or a splash.
