Blue Heron Drift Fishing Charter is a family-friendly fishing activity operating year-round from Palm Beach, where you fish reefs 20 to 40 minutes offshore in 50 to 200 feet of water. Rod, reel, bait, tackle and fishing license are included. The vessel is custom-built aluminum with separate restrooms and cushioned cabin seating. Choose the 8 AM or 1 PM departure, or the Friday 6-hour special.

The experience

The Blue Heron Fleet has been family-owned since 1955, now in its third generation. The two vessels are custom-built aluminum drift fishers that meet Coast Guard regulations, equipped with state-of-the-art navigation and fish-finding gear. The cabins have cushioned seating, settees for catering, and separate men's and women's restrooms. Everything you need to fish is provided (rod, reel, bait, tackle, and your fishing license), so you arrive and cast.

The fishing grounds are 20 to 40 minutes from the dock, depending on where the catches are happening that day. You'll fish natural and artificial reefs in depths from 50 to 200 feet, all within a quarter-mile to 3 miles from shore. The waters here hold kingfish, snapper, grouper, mahi-mahi, sailfish, cobia, barracuda, sharks, false albacore and wahoo. The crew has years of experience and stays focused on your family's safety and success on the water.

Three departure times let you pick what fits your schedule. The 8 AM and 1 PM drifts run the standard length. The Friday 6-hour special gives you extra time on the reefs. Children are welcome from age 5, and the boat is wheelchair accessible. Food and drinks are not included, so plan accordingly if you're heading out for a full morning or afternoon.
