Paddle a mountain lake and float between swims and snacks

A small-group paddle board activity on one of the Cascade Lakes near Bend, where you paddle, swim, and relax on the shore with appetizers and beverages. The group stays under five people, which keeps the experience intimate and unhurried. A live English-speaking guide leads the 2.5-hour session. Children from age 12 are welcome.

The experience

You arrive at the lake and get fitted with a paddle board, paddle and life jacket. The group stays small, no more than four other people, so there's room to move at your own pace and the guide can keep an eye on everyone without rushing. The snow-capped mountains frame the water, and you paddle out into that view. When you want to stop, you do: pull up to the beach, leave the board in the shallows, and either sink into a beach chair or wade in for a swim. Some groups play horseshoes between paddles. There's no schedule to keep, no performance to give.

Partway through, appetizers and beverages come out. You eat and drink on the shore or floating on the water, depending on what you want. The whole thing runs 2.5 hours, which is long enough to feel like a real outing but short enough that you're not exhausted by the end. A guide in English is with you the whole time, handling the logistics so you don't have to think about anything except whether to paddle or float next.

Is this one for you?Book this if you have a free afternoon and want to be on the water without the commitment of a full-day paddle or a crowded group. The small size and the no-schedule approach work best for someone who wants to move at their own pace and isn't looking to push hard. The point is the lake and the mountains, not the workout.
