Oahu Sunset Catamaran Sail: Dolphins, Cocktails & Apps
Sail into the sunset with cocktails in hand and the island dropping into the sea.
A 2-hour sunset sailing cruise on Oahu departs from Ko Olina Marina aboard a 53-foot catamaran, with three complimentary cocktails, island-style appetizers including shrimp cocktail and charcuterie, and a live English-speaking guide. The boat carries small groups, making the sail intimate enough to spot dolphins and listen for whales while you watch the island glow yellow at dusk. Check-in includes welcome snacks and waivers; children must be accompanied by an adult, and the minimum drinking age is 21.
The Experience
Two hours is enough time to leave the shore, settle into the rhythm of the sail, and be back on land before dark. The catamaran departs from Ko Olina Marina on the west side of Oahu, a quieter stretch of coast than Waikiki. Once aboard the 53-foot boat, you get three complimentary cocktails, island appetizers—shrimp cocktail, cheeses, salami, nuts and fruit—and the kind of pace that lets you actually notice the water and the light changing. A live guide in English walks you through what you're seeing and answers questions as the boat moves.
The sail is built around the sunset itself. You're on the water as the island starts to glow, and the whole point is to watch that happen without rushing through it. Between the light show, there's time to scan for dolphins in the swells and listen for the sound of whales—both common in these waters. The warm wind, the drink in your hand, and the absence of an itinerary to follow are the whole thing.
Check-in happens at the Ko Olina Marina desk, where you sign waivers and get your welcome snacks before boarding. The boat is suitable for all fitness levels, and public transportation options are available nearby if you're not driving. If you want drinks beyond the three complimentary cocktails, additional alcoholic drinks are available to purchase onboard.

Children can join the sail, but they must be accompanied by an adult at all times. The minimum drinking age is 21, so anyone under that age cannot order alcohol.

Where does the catamaran depart from, and how do I get there?
The boat leaves from Ko Olina Marina on the west side of Oahu. Public transportation options are available nearby if you don't have a car, though the marina is about 45 minutes from central Honolulu.
Will I actually see dolphins or whales on this sail?
Dolphins and whales are common in these waters, and the guide will help you spot them, but sightings are not guaranteed. The sail is designed to give you time to watch for them while you enjoy the sunset, rather than chasing specific wildlife.

The cruise is 2 hours total, which includes time for check-in, boarding, the full sail, and return to the marina. The boat operates in most conditions suitable for sailing; contact the operator directly about their weather cancellation policy.
