Nashville Songwriter Experience: Write your own Song
Turn your story into a song in three hours
A Nashville songwriting class where you co-write an original song with a professional songwriter, bringing as much or as little as you have: a melody, a story, a title, or just an idea. No prior experience is necessary. You'll learn the craft of songwriting, get answers about the music business, and leave with a digital work tape of your finished song.

The experience
You walk in with whatever you've got: a melody stuck in your head, a funny story, a phrase that won't leave you alone, or nothing at all. The songwriter guides you through building lyrics, melodies and music from there, showing you how the pieces fit together and what makes a song land. You're not performing or being judged. You're in the writing room doing the actual work, the same way it happens in Nashville studios. If you have musical skills, that's useful. If you don't, it doesn't matter. The focus is on making something authentic to you.
The session runs three hours and includes light snacks and drinks. You'll work on piano or keyboard and guitar as the song takes shape. At the end, you get a work tape (a rough recording with vocals and instrument backing) that you can take home digitally and share. If you want to take it further and have it professionally produced, the songwriter can connect you with producers they know, though that's separate from this experience.
Sessions happen in person or over video and voice calls, so you can join from wherever you are. Children are welcome from age nine. The songwriter occasionally has visiting musicians stop by, people you might recognize from The Voice or American Idol, though that's not guaranteed.
What’s included
- Light snacks and drinks.
- access to piano, keyboard or guitar.
- instruction in songwriting craft and song structure.
- a digital work tape recording of your finished song.

Is this one for you? This works best if you have a free afternoon and want to turn something personal (a story, a memory, an idea) into a finished song you can keep and share. The songwriter's focus on authenticity over performance skill means you'll spend the time creating, not worrying about whether you're musical enough.

Top questions
Can children come?
Yes. Ticket types: Youth (9 to 17 years). Children under 9 can't be included in the booking.
Do I need to know how to play an instrument or sing to write a song here?
No. The songwriter works with people of all backgrounds, and the focus is on creating something authentic to your story, not on your musical skills. If you do have experience, that's a bonus, but it's not required at all.
What happens if I show up without any song ideas?
You can bring a blank canvas and the songwriter will guide you through the process of finding your story and turning it into lyrics and melody. You don't have to arrive with anything prepared.
What do I get to take home after the session?
You'll receive a work tape (a rough digital recording of your finished song with vocals and instrument backing) that you can download and keep.
Can I do this over video instead of in person?
Yes, sessions can be done in person or over video and voice calls, so you can participate from anywhere.
What's included in the three hours?
The session covers songwriting instruction, the co-write process, answers about the music business, light snacks and drinks, and use of piano, keyboard or guitar. The work tape is created and provided at the end.
