The experience

The SUV picks you up at your hotel or wherever you're staying in Napa or Sonoma at a time you set. Your guide drives through the wine country to three wineries you've chosen together: places that match what you want to taste and the kind of day you're after. The guide knows the lesser-known spots, the ones that don't show up in every guidebook, and handles all the reservations so you walk in as a guest, not a walk-in.

Between tastings there's time for lunch at a spot the guide recommends, and plenty of room for photos. The guide will shoot on your phone or camera if you want. Bottled water and snacks travel with you in the SUV, so there's no hunting for a place to sit or wondering what to eat. The whole day is built around what you came for: the wine, the pace, and the stories behind the places you're tasting.

At the end of the afternoon the guide drops you back at your hotel or wherever else you need to be. Under 21 is welcome on the tour, though anyone under the legal drinking age won't be able to taste at the wineries.
