The experience
At The Dinner Detective in St. Louis, you're not watching a mystery unfold on stage. You're hunting for the killer while they sit next to you. Non-costumed actors are planted in the audience pretending to be regular guests, which means the interrogations and clues come from people you've been talking to all night. Costumed detectives work the room, asking questions, revealing evidence, and narrowing down suspects as the evening moves forward. You get to accuse, defend yourself if you're named a prime suspect, and compete with other tables to solve it first.
Dinner is a four-course plated meal. You choose chicken or vegetarian when you book. Coffee and tea come with it. The whole thing takes about three hours, and the show is set in present day so the mystery unfolds in real time rather than jumping between scenes. Free self-parking is included. At the end, the top sleuth wins a prize package.
