The experience
Monument Valley is a place of mesas, buttes, spires and arches: rock formations that rise from the desert floor and frame the night sky. Your Navajo guide will drive you to where the stars are at their brightest, away from the light that dims them closer to the main viewpoint. The guide does more than point: they tell the stories the constellations hold, weaving together what the sky means to the Navajo people and what the landscape below reveals when darkness falls.
The tour runs 2.5 hours and includes pickup and drop-off at View Hotel Lobby or at the KOA campground for overnight guests (you'll need to call ahead for the exact departure time from the campground). Bottled water is provided. The guide speaks English and welcomes children from age 4, though infants must sit on an adult's lap. The terrain and the pace are suitable for all fitness levels, though the tour is not recommended for travelers with spinal injuries, poor cardiovascular health, or during pregnancy.
