The experience

The shop sits at the end of Cannery Row, where fishing and canning activity boomed in the mid-1900s. You start on a flat, paved 10 mph recreation trail exclusive to bikes and pedestrians, which gives you a few minutes to get comfortable with the e-bike before the route opens onto the coast. From there the tour follows the 17-Mile Drive through Pacific Grove and Pebble Beach, passing the Monterey Bay Aquarium and stopping at viewpoints where the guide helps you spot sea otters, sea lions and migrating whales on the horizon.

The stops unfold along the granite coastline. Point Pinos Lighthouse, lit in 1855 and still operating with its original lens, marks the south entrance to Monterey Bay. Asilomar State Beach stretches a mile of rocky coves and is part of a marine reserve. The route passes the John Denver Memorial overlooking the ocean between Pacific Grove and Asilomar, and takes you under a canopy of the oldest Monterey Cypress trees in existence before reaching the Lone Cypress: a 250-year-old tree that serves as the trademark for Pebble Beach and is likely the most photographed tree in the world. Depending on how fast your group rides, the guide may add a bonus stop with views of Point Lobos and Carmel Bay, or finish at the 18th hole behind the Lodge at Pebble Beach, where you can explore the grounds and take photos.

The tour requires a minimum of four participants for a non-private departure to run. If your group is smaller, you can call to arrange a private tour, switch to a self-guided rental, or combine your reservation with another group at a different time. Riders and passengers must be booked separately, and passengers ride with another rider in your party: guides do not carry passengers.
