You’ll climb ancient sand dunes by Hummer as sunset colors sweep across Moab’s Hell’s Revenge Trail. With your local guide, spot real dinosaur tracks and hidden arches, then pause for snacks overlooking Arches and the Colorado River. Expect laughter, stories, and moments of real quiet—all included with pickup and expert guidance.
Hands gripping the roll bar tighter than I’d admit, I watched our guide—Sam, who grew up here—grin as he steered the Hummer up what looked like a wall of rock. The first lurch over petrified sand dunes made my heart pound (and yeah, I might’ve yelped), but then the view just opened up. You could smell the dust in the air, that dry, sun-baked scent you only get in Moab. Sam pointed out a line of dinosaur tracks pressed right into the stone—he said they’re over 150 million years old. I tried to imagine that while my shoes crunched on gravel.
We stopped at a ledge where you could see Arches glowing in the distance, all those weird shapes catching the last bit of sun. Someone handed around bottled water—needed it after laughing so hard when my friend tried to pronounce “Hell’s Revenge” in Spanish for Sam (he just shook his head). There was this quiet moment where nobody talked, just wind and a couple of ravens circling below us above the Colorado River. You don’t really expect silence to feel that big.
The ride back down was almost more nerve-wracking than going up. Sam kept things light, telling stories about people getting stuck out here before GPS was a thing—apparently it happened a lot. We passed some families with little kids who looked way braver than me. Snacks came out near the end; nothing fancy but somehow trail mix tastes better after you’ve been bouncing around for two hours. The whole sunset Hummer adventure felt less like a tour and more like hanging out with someone who knows every crack in these rocks. I still think about that view from the top sometimes, especially when city life feels too loud.
Your evening includes admission to Hell's Revenge Trail, all fees and taxes covered upfront, bottled water and light snacks along the way, plus friendly local guides handling every twist of the trail—wheelchair access is available too if you need it.
