The experience

Canyoneering in southern Utah means descending into narrow redrock canyons using ropes and rappelling gear, then hiking and scrambling back out through terrain few people ever reach. The Robber's Roost Wilderness sits in the Greater Canyonlands region, one of the few landscapes left in the Lower 48 where you can still find genuine solitude. You'll work with an experienced guide who teaches rappelling technique as part of the day, so you don't need prior experience: only the fitness to handle a full day of physical movement in a canyon environment.

The eight-hour outing combines multiple ways of moving through the landscape: rappelling down canyon walls on ropes, hiking across slickrock and through narrow passages, and scrambling over boulders. Your guide manages the rope systems and safety setup while teaching you how to rappel and move through the terrain. All canyoneering equipment (harnesses, ropes, helmets, anchors) comes with you. You bring water and physical readiness for a challenging day outdoors.

Check in 15 minutes before your scheduled departure time. A minimum of two guests per booking means you'll share the experience with at least one other person, though group size stays small enough that your guide can focus on teaching and safety. The activity is not recommended for pregnant travelers or anyone with cardiovascular concerns, and you must be at least seven years old and able to sign a waiver before starting.
