The experience

The night starts at 7:30 when you're seated in the Mojito Lounge overlooking Ocean Drive. At 8pm the bachata lesson begins: beginner level, taught live in English or Spanish, with the guide walking you through the steps while you practice at your table and on the small floor. At 9pm a mojito and three appetizers arrive: Cuban empanadas, Venezuelan cheese breads and Caribbean tostones. Then at 9:20pm the salsa lesson takes over, same setup, same beginner pace. You're learning to move, not sitting through a performance.

The class wraps at 10pm, and that's when the venue splits. If you're 21 or older, you can stay for the nightclub: live band in front of the dance floor, DJs spinning Latin and pop, colorful performers, tropical bars, and dancing that runs all night. The in-and-out wristband means you're not locked in. You can leave and come back. If you're under 21, the Sip & Salsa experience ends there. Either way, you've spent the evening in the Art Deco District on South Beach, in a room full of people who came to move, not to observe.

Dress for a night out: comfortable shoes (heels, sneakers, sandals with a back strap all work, no flip-flops), and clothes you'd wear to dinner and dancing. No tank tops for men, no see-through clothing, no baseball hats. The venue is wheelchair accessible, and public transit stops nearby. If you're celebrating something (a birthday, bachelorette, anniversary), let them know when you book and they'll put it on your table card.
