Resin Ocean Art Class on Maui: Make Your Own Board
Create a unique keepsake guided step-by-step by a certified local artist
Kai Luna Creations offers a small-group resin art class on Maui where you learn the wave-pour technique and create your own acacia or bamboo serving board with ocean designs in 1.5 to 2 hours. All materials, gloves and aprons are provided; the finished piece cures for 24 hours before pickup, with delivery and shipping available. Children from age 8 are welcome, and the class includes island drinks and tropical snacks.
The Experience
At Kai Luna Creations, you walk in and start learning the wave-pour technique right away — no art experience needed. The class runs 1.5 to 2 hours, and in that time you'll pour resin onto your choice of board (acacia handle serving board or rectangular bamboo) and watch the ocean colors flow and settle into a one-of-a-kind pattern. The studio provides all materials, gloves and aprons; you just bring yourself and your aloha. Island drinks and tropical snacks are included, and you're welcome to bring your own beverages if you'd like.
Your finished board needs 24 hours to cure, so you'll pick it up the next day or arrange delivery or shipping if you're leaving before then. The upgrade options let you add a turtle, whale tail or surfboard design on top of the ocean pour, which changes the whole feel of the piece. Since the class keeps groups small, the guide gives individualized attention to walk you through each step — there's no watching a demo and figuring it out on your own.
What’s included

What exactly do I make in the resin ocean class on Maui?
You create either an acacia handle serving board or a rectangular bamboo board using the wave-pour resin technique, which lets you layer ocean-colored resin and watch it flow into its own pattern. Upgrade options include turtle, whale tail or surfboard designs added to the board.
How long does the resin class take, and when can I take my board home?
The class itself runs 1.5 to 2 hours, but your finished board needs 24 hours to cure before it's ready for pickup. If you're leaving Maui before then, delivery or shipping is available for an additional fee.
What's included in the resin art class price?
All materials, gloves, aprons, island drinks and tropical snacks are included. You don't need to bring art supplies or wear special clothes — just show up ready to create.
Do I need art experience to join the class?
No — the class is designed for everyone, whether you're an art enthusiast or picking up a brush for the first time. The guide provides close, individualized instruction to walk you through all the steps.
Can children come to the resin class?
Children are welcome from age 8 and up. The small-group format means the guide can give attention to younger artists as they learn the wave-pour technique.
