The experience

The flight covers roughly 1.3 to 1.5 hours and departs from Maui Plane Rides. Your route passes over the Nakalele Blowhole, Honolua Bay, and the entire central valley of Maui, then crosses to Lanai to overfly a WWII shipwreck and the island's prehistoric coastline. From there you move to views of Kahoolawe, a former aerial bombing practice target, and Molokini Crater, before returning over Wailea's resorts and golf courses, the lava fields of Makena State Park, and the Kamaole Beach Parks of Kihei. The plane passes the ghost factory of Maui's historic sugar cane industry on the way back.

The cabin is pressurized and seats up to five, with each passenger getting a window seat and unobstructed views through non-tinted panoramic glass. The pilot speaks English or Spanish and narrates the route live over headsets so everyone hears clearly. Soda and bottled water are provided, and you skip the entry lines at the facility: parking and landing fees are already covered in your price.
