The tour stops there to walk the pier, explore tide pools, or simply sit with a view of the cove. The resort has a seafood restaurant, private cabanas, and a history stretching back to the 1940s as a fishing launch point for local boats. The wine tasting happens high in the Santa Monica Mountains on Mulholland Highway, at Cornell Wine Co. and The Old Place—a rustic setting where you get 45 minutes to drink wine, eat food, feed peacocks, or take a nature walk. Before that, the bus stops at the Malibu Pier for a quick photoshoot at one of the world's most famous surfing breaks, and at a wetland preserve where you can walk around before the group departs. Point Dume State Beach, the tour's crown jewel, sits at the northern tip of Santa Monica Bay and is difficult to reach without a car; the walk through the natural preserve overlooks the beach and often brings views of Catalina Island, seals on the rocks below, or the occasional dolphin passing by.
