The experience

The tour starts with a scenic drive through Lancaster County farmland, where your guide walks you through how Amish and Mennonite settlers arrived in Pennsylvania, why they chose it, and how their faith continues to shape daily life. You'll pass covered bridges, 19th-century mills, and buildings from the earliest European settlements more than 300 years ago. The landscape itself becomes the story of how this community took root and stayed.

Your first stop is the Amish farm where Witness was filmed. The property remains much as it appeared in the movie, and you get to tour it directly with the family who owns it: a private access not available to the public. You'll interact with their animals and see Amish craftsmanship up close in the artisan stable and barn. A second stop takes you to a private Amish home where children make birdhouses. You can watch the work and buy one if you want. Then comes the operating dairy farm, a working enterprise dating back to the 1830s, where you see how the business actually runs.

The tour wraps at an Amish-owned creamery where ice cream is included: rich, fresh, and made on-site. The views of the farmland are free. Three hours total in an air-conditioned vehicle means you move between stops without arranging your own transport or navigating unfamiliar roads.
