The tour starts at Incline Village and follows the eastern shore south toward South Lake Tahoe, with the audio guide playing stories tied to your location. You'll pass Incline Village's Millionaire's Row, the site of the Ponderosa Theme Park, and Thunderbird Lodge before reaching the Tahoe East Shore Trail and Lake Tahoe Nevada State Park. The guide explains what you're seeing—second-growth forest, the geology of the shoreline, how the Pony Express once ran through this area—without forcing you to stop or follow a fixed schedule.

Cave Rock sits roughly halfway through the route and marks a significant site in early Native American history; you can hike to its base if you want to get out. Sand Harbor, Skunk Harbor, Spooner Lake and Logan Shoals Vista Trail are all accessible from the main drive, along with Zephyr Cove. The tour ends at South Lake Tahoe, but the stops in between are optional—you can pull off at any overlook, park at a beach, or skip ahead if the weather turns or you want to spend time on the water. Parking fees at individual sites are separate.
