Paddle to a sandbar only locals know, then sink your toes in warm sand with a cold drink in hand.

Fury's Island Adventure Eco Tour is a 3.5-hour catamaran and water-sports tour from Key West to hidden sandbars and shallow waters in the Marine Sanctuary. You board a custom-built catamaran, kayak or paddleboard through crystal waters to spot wildlife, then relax on the sandbar with a lunch buffet and complimentary drinks. The late-afternoon departure times the sunset cruise back to Key West.

The Experience

The afternoon starts when you board one of Fury's state-of-the-art Corinthian catamarans and cruise into the Key West backcountry toward a remote shallow-water area or natural sandbar tucked inside the Marine Sanctuary. Tides and conditions determine whether you'll find exposed sand or shallow water, but either way the catamaran gets you past the crowds to a spot most visitors never see. Once there, you grab a kayak or paddleboard and paddle through crystal water close enough to witness wildlife in its natural habitat—the kind of access you don't get from a dock or a beach.

After the water activities, the day shifts to pure unwind. You sink your toes into warm sand, grab a cold beer or soda, and work through a lunch buffet while the afternoon light holds. The catamaran carries reef-safe sunscreen, lily pad floats, and sun chill floats if you want to drift without paddling. Wine, spiked seltzer, and champagne are also included. On the late-afternoon trip, you get a full view of the sunset on the cruise back to Key West—the kind of timing that turns the return into its own event instead of just the end of the day.

A live guide in English shares insights into the mangrove ecosystem and the area's ecology as you move through it. The tour suits all fitness levels, and infants can sit on an adult's lap. Arrive 30 minutes before departure with a valid government-issued photo ID, towel, bathing suit, water shoes or waterproof sandals, and sun-protective clothing. Alcohol is served only after all water activities are finished—no exceptions. Groups of eight or more are subject to a 10% automatic gratuity charged at check-in.

Top questions

What's the difference between the sandbar and shallow water on this tour?

Tides and conditions determine what you'll find at the destination—either an exposed natural sandbar or a shallow-water area. Both are remote spots inside the Marine Sanctuary where you can kayak, paddleboard, and relax in the sand, so the core experience stays the same regardless of which the day brings.

Can I bring my own kayak or paddleboard?

The tour provides kayaks, paddleboards, lily pad floats, and sun chill floats, so you don't need to bring your own. All equipment is included in the price.

Is the lunch included, and can you accommodate dietary restrictions?

A lunch buffet is included with the tour, along with complimentary soda, water, beer, wine, spiked seltzer, and champagne on the sunset departure. The operator cannot accommodate special dietary requests, so plan accordingly.

When does the sunset tour leave, and how long is the whole trip?

The late-afternoon departure is timed to catch the sunset on the cruise back to Key West. The full tour runs 3.5 hours from start to finish.

Do I need to be a strong swimmer or have kayaking experience?

The tour is suitable for all physical fitness levels, and you're paddling in shallow, protected waters inside the Marine Sanctuary. No prior kayaking or paddleboarding experience is required.

What do I need to bring?

Bring a valid government-issued photo ID, towel, bathing suit, water shoes or waterproof sandals, and sun-protective clothing like a hat or sun shirt. The tour provides reef-safe sunscreen, so you don't need to pack your own.
