The experience

Three hours on the water means you're out and back before the afternoon, which is the whole point of this tour. The boat leaves the Kona coast and heads to Kealakekua Bay, where the reef snorkeling happens. A small vessel, not the large tourist boat, lets you spend more time actually in the water instead of waiting on deck, and the crew can give you a more personal experience. Beginners and children are welcome. The guides teach you about the reef ecosystem as you're looking at it.

Snorkeling equipment is provided, and light snacks and drinks come with the tour. You're welcome to bring your own lunch to eat while you're there: the massive cliff face and views in the area are part of the stop itself. Kids under 12 are required by the Coast Guard to wear a life vest while on board. Reef-safe sunscreen (zinc only) is required by law. You can use your own or theirs.
