The experience
What does a morning on the Indian River Lagoon actually look like? You meet the captain at Vero Tackle & Watersports, a full-service shop right on the water next to Riverside Café, and head out into one of Florida's most productive estuaries. The lagoon's shallow waters hold redfish, snook, trout and other inshore species that respond to live bait and the captain's knowledge of where they're feeding. You're fishing for four hours with tackle and bait provided, a fishing license included, and fuel covered. Nothing to arrange beforehand.
The captain does the heavy lifting: reading the water, positioning the boat, advising on technique and handling the details that separate a productive day from a slow one. Whether you've fished before or you're holding a rod for the first time, the setup works the same way. High-quality rods and reels come rigged and ready. The captain supplies live bait while supplies last and knows which species are active in the lagoon right now. The boat holds up to two people, so it's intimate and unhurried.
