Six lines descending a Colorado cliffside, with suspended bridges crossing between them.

Idaho Springs Cliffside Zipline is a six-line course built into the natural terrain above the town, where you ride up the cliffside in a zip truck, then descend through the lines and cross suspended bridges before finishing on Line 6 over Chicago Creek. The activity takes about two and a half hours and includes all harness, helmet and zipline equipment. A live guide leads the course in English, and children can join from age 6.

The experience

You start by riding up the cliffside in a zip truck to the top, where you get a view of the Continental Divide before you clip in. The course itself is six separate lines threaded through the natural topography of the Colorado Rockies, with suspended bridges connecting them as you work your way back down. One of the lines is a dual race line, so if someone in your group wants to challenge another rider, that's where it happens.

The whole descent takes about two and a half hours. You're equipped with a harness, helmet and all the gear the operator provides. A guide in English walks you through the course and manages the setup at each station. The final line crosses over Chicago Creek and ends at the outpost where you started.
