The experience

You start at Willow Creek headquarters and climb toward Ann's Pond, where moose frequently come to drink. The trail continues up to Ann's Ridge, a high point where the landscape opens into a 360-degree view of the Grand Teton mountains. Lunch is included here, and you have time to stretch and take in the vista before the descent begins.

The return follows Ann's Ridge Loop and drops down the historic Bryan's Flat logging road, completing a full circuit so you see different terrain on the way back. The entire 2.5-hour ride stays within Bridger Teton National Forest, winding through Douglas firs, lodge pole pines, blue sagebrush and alpine wildflowers. The trail runs alongside and sometimes through Willow Creek as it flows toward the Snake River, and wildlife encounters are frequent: Rocky Mountain elk, mule deer, Shiras moose, red-tailed hawks and bald eagles all inhabit the area you ride through.
