You control the stops, not a fixed itinerary.

The Waikiki Trolley is a hop-on hop-off tour of Honolulu and Waikiki aboard open-air trolleys and double-decker buses, with four separate lines covering different neighborhoods and landmarks. You pick which line to ride, hop off at any stop to explore, and board the next trolley when you're ready to move on. Choose a 1-day pass for a single line, a 1-day all-line pass to switch between all four, or a multi-day pass for return visits.

The Experience

Four lines run through different parts of the area, each stopping at distinct landmarks. The Blue Line circles the ocean side with stops at Waikiki Shopping Plaza and local food spots. The Red Line focuses on historic Honolulu—Iolani Palace, the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, downtown and the Hawaii Theatre, and Aloha Tower on the harbor (closed Mondays through Wednesdays). The Pink Line serves Ala Moana Center and the shops along Royal Hawaiian Avenue. The Green Line runs Diamond Head, Waikiki Beach and the surrounding residential streets, though it operates Saturdays only. A live guide in English narrates from the open-air trolley or double-decker bus, so you hear context as you pass each site without having to read a map.

The hop-on hop-off format means you set the rhythm. Ride a full loop to get your bearings, then hop off at Duke Kahanamoku Statue, Kapiolani Park, Hanauma Bay, Sandy Beach Park, Honolulu Chinatown, or any other stop that catches your interest. Spend an hour there or twenty minutes—the next trolley comes around on its route and you board when you're ready. No guide waiting, no group holding you back, no schedule forcing you forward. The trade-off is that you're moving between stops on a fixed route, not getting driven directly to wherever you want to go next.

Trolleys run throughout the day, and you choose your pass length at checkout: a single day on one line, a single day across all four lines, or a 4-day or 7-day pass if you want to spread your exploring across multiple days. Wheelchair-accessible vehicles are available; strollers and small children are welcome, though infants must sit on an adult's lap. Food, drinks and smoking aren't allowed on board, and bags must stay on your lap or under your seat so they don't block other passengers.

Top questions

Can I get off the trolley and explore a site, then catch the next one that comes by?

Yes—that's the whole point of the hop-on hop-off format. Hop off at any stop on your chosen line, spend as much time as you want at that site, and board the next trolley when it circles back through. No reservation needed for the next ride; just flag down the trolley when it arrives.

What's the difference between the four lines?

The Blue Line runs the ocean side with food stops and Waikiki views. The Red Line covers historic downtown Honolulu, including Iolani Palace and the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific. The Pink Line focuses on shopping at Ala Moana Center and Royal Hawaiian Avenue. The Green Line circles Diamond Head and Waikiki Beach, and runs Saturdays only.

Do I need to book a specific departure time?

No. Trolleys run throughout the day on a loop, so you board whenever you're ready at any stop on your chosen line. With a 1-day all-line pass, you can switch between lines as the day goes on.

What does the live guide actually tell you?

The guide narrates in English from the trolley, providing context about the neighborhoods, landmarks and history you're passing. You hear it as you ride, so you understand what you're looking at without needing to research beforehand.

Is Hanauma Bay included in the tour?

Hanauma Bay is a stop on one of the trolley routes, but entry to the bay itself is not included in your trolley pass. The trolley drops you at the location; you pay separately if you want to enter and snorkel.

Can I bring luggage or a stroller on board?

Strollers and small bags are welcome, but they must stay on your lap or under your seat and can't block other passengers' space. The maximum baggage allowance is 24" x 18" x 12", and foldable strollers are allowed as long as they don't protrude into other seats.
