Can you ride a Segway if you've never tried one? Yes, the training takes just a few minutes, and then you're ready to move. The tour covers the entire 70-acre Honey Horn preserve, moving through open meadows, under live oak forest, and into the salt marsh. A guide narrates the route, stopping to point out the landscape and tell the history of the property, which was once a working cotton plantation. Because the pace is slow and deliberate, younger children and families can stay together without anyone rushing or falling behind.

The Segway itself handles the terrain. You steer and lean. The machine does the work of moving across grass, dirt paths and the preserve's gentle slopes. Stops are built into the tour. You're not covering ground for the sake of speed. At the end of the 90 minutes, you visit the Coastal Discovery Museum, which sits on the property and rounds out the morning or afternoon without requiring a separate trip. Bottled water and a helmet are provided. You bring only comfortable shoes and the willingness to stand on a platform and lean.

The tour requires a minimum of two guests to run, so solo travelers cannot book alone. Children must be at least 9 years old. The tour is not recommended for anyone with spinal injuries or for pregnant travelers.
