The Experience
The tour begins in the Meat Market District at Chelsea Market, then climbs to the High Line—a public greenway that transformed an abandoned rail corridor into an open-air park suspended above the city streets. You walk the full 1.45-mile length, passing through sections planted with grasses, perennials and shade-tolerant species, with views of art and performance spaces along the way. The southern end opens into gray birch and serviceberry trees before the path descends into Hudson Yards.
The tour ends at The Vessel, the 150-foot bronze honeycomb structure at the center of Hudson Yards. The Vessel holds 154 interconnecting flights of stairs, 2,500 individual steps and 80 landings—a single art piece designed to be climbed and explored from the inside. Hudson Yards itself is the largest private real estate development in the United States by area, with shopping, galleries and restaurants built around the structure. A live guide in English leads the entire route, which takes 90 minutes total.
