Guided Sandias Climbing Experience: Local Guides, Full Day
Climb rock faces you've never tackled before, with someone who knows every feature of the Sandias.
A full-day guided climbing activity in the Sandias near Albuquerque, where you climb with a local guide who points out routes and features while you work on real rock. The day starts with a ride on the Sandia Peak Tramway to the crest, moves into climbing instruction and practice on the mountain itself, and ends with a moderate hike back to the tram and the ride down. All climbing gear is provided, and guides speak English.
The experience
The Sandia Peak Tramway gets you to the climbing area in one ride (one of the world's longest aerial tramways), so you skip the approach hike and start climbing sooner. Once at the crest, your guide runs a safety meeting, then you climb for the day on the routes and features the Sandias are known for. Your guide is a local who can show you the best climbing spots and help you build confidence on new terrain.
The climbing itself is the whole point: you're on real rock, working through different pitches and problems with your guide's support and instruction. If time allows, there's an optional stop at Ten 3 for snacks or drinks on the way back. The day ends with a moderate hike back up to the tram station and the descent back down the mountain to your car.
