The experience
The hike runs 2 to 3 hours through terrain that shifts between open meadows, oak groves and creek beds depending on where the guides take you that day. Ian and Stacy design the route around your group's fitness level and what you want to see, whether that's the swimming holes, the herbs and wildflowers, or the history of the valley itself. Los Padres National Forest and the surrounding Ojai Valley are the setting, and the guides have hiked everywhere from Hawaii to the Eastern Sierras, so they know how to read a group and adjust the pace.
You'll carry a waist-pack with water and snacks provided. Bring sunscreen and a hat. The guides point out the flora and fauna as you walk and talk about the valley's natural and human history. Public transportation options are nearby if you're coming from Santa Barbara or Los Angeles for the day, and the minimum signup is two people, so a pair can book, or a larger group for a company outing, wedding party or family reunion.
What’s included
- Water and snacks provided in a waist-pack.
- fresh fruit.
- a live English-speaking guide who teaches about the valley's flora, fauna and history.
