The experience
The boat departs from Pier 39 and heads straight for the Golden Gate Bridge, sailing under the span itself before looping around to Alcatraz and continuing east to the Oakland Bay Bridge. You'll see the Presidio, Crissy Field, Fisherman's Wharf, and Ghirardelli Square from the water: perspectives most visitors miss from land. The sail takes two hours total, moving at the pace of the wind and the Bay's conditions rather than following a fixed narration or schedule.
Drinks come with the ticket: choose from Champagne, mimosa, beer, wine, soda, or water. A jacket is provided, and the crew member working as your first mate also handles photography and music, so you get candid shots of the Bridge and your group without asking. The captain and first mate stay accessible if you have questions about what you're seeing, but this is not a guided commentary tour. You set the rhythm of what you notice.
Bring layers. The Bay can be cooler than the city, and extra jackets are available to borrow if you need them. Children must be accompanied by an adult, and infants travel best in packs attached to a guardian rather than in a stroller. Service animals are welcome on board.
