The Experience

We were already gliding over the Santa Fe River in those see-through kayaks before I realized how much you can actually see below — it’s almost distracting. Fish darted under us, the water so clear it felt like floating on glass (I guess that’s the point). Our guide, Jamie, kept pointing out things I would’ve missed: a turtle sunbathing on a log, some kind of bird with a crazy long neck (she said it was an anhinga).
