The experience
You arrive in Fredericksburg with a free afternoon or a morning to spend, and the tour starts with pickup from your hotel. Daniel and Laurie Jenschke, who have lived in the area for years, drive you through the Hill Country landscape and stop at wineries you've chosen in advance or ones they recommend as hidden gems. The itinerary is yours to shape: you pick which producers to visit, and they handle the reservations and confirm everything at the check-in desk when you arrive.
At each winery, you get five tastings tickets and choose which wines to pour. Some stops have outdoor patios with live music on weekends. Others offer a food truck where you can order a meal to pair with what you're tasting. Bottled water comes with the tour. The whole experience runs three to four hours, which gives you time to linger without rushing through the day.
What sets this apart is the company: you're not on a bus with twenty other people, and your guides aren't reading from a script. Laurie and Daniel know the winemakers, the stories behind the labels, and the quieter corners of the region. They talk as you drive and taste, filling in the context that makes each sip land differently. The friendly atmosphere means you're tasting wine, not performing a tour.
