The experience

The day starts with hotel pickup from Fairbanks and heads north toward the Arctic Circle. Along the way, you'll stop at the Trans-Alaska Pipeline Viewpoint for a close-up view of the pipeline and learn about its engineering and construction. The guide explains how the pipeline was built and what it means to the region, then the route continues toward the Arctic Circle itself.

Once you reach the Arctic Circle Monument Sign at 66 degrees north, you'll have your picture taken at the marker and receive your Arctic Circle Certificate as proof you've crossed into the Arctic. From there, the tour takes you to walk right to the edge of the Yukon River, where you can stand above one of Alaska's most significant waterways and take in its scale and history. The river's majesty is the kind of thing that photographs don't quite capture.

The final stop is Finger Mountain, where you'll climb above the treeline and see the landscape open up across the high country. Bottled water is provided throughout the day, and the driver-guide handles all the logistics. Hotel drop-off concludes the tour back in Fairbanks.
